One of my absolute favorite things about Instagram is getting to connect and make new friends. Rachel is a gifted, gorgeous model with Wilhelmina <https://www.wilhelmina.com/> whom I’ve been connected with for years; she’s also a badass musician <https://www.tishmal.com/> and I’m obsessed with her music. Rachel and Tanner recently moved to New York City – into a building you can see from Central Park – and we decided it would be amazing to get together and take some photos. And it was.
Every element of the day felt natural, in part because we didn’t really plan much and instead captured moments as they happened. Like dancing in the street. The day we met up happened to be on the death anniversary of John Lennon and, on our way to the Loeb Boathouse at Central Park <http://www.thecentralparkboathouse.com/>, we walked right into a musical tribute. The small crowd kept growing as we lingered, the music began to build, and Rachel and Tanner just started dancing – it was authentic and romantic and moving.
There were many striking details of our shoot, too: the golden light as they leaned into each other, Bethesda Fountain just over their shoulders; a green canoe gliding across greener water, carrying passengers who just perfectly fit together.
