I’ve been inspired by Lauren for a long time; as soon as we met I knew I wanted to be friends. I reached out to her about this shoot because I love her work and her aesthetic, and I wanted to help her show more of who she is within the brand she’s building, and within the media she puts out to feature her art. I’m a firm believer in showcasing the artist alongside their art, and that the world definitely needs to get to know Lauren.
It was so neat to photograph Lauren in her home studio. I had wanted to see the small details in the way she works as well as the details in her painted pieces – the method and the actual brushstrokes – and it turned into this authentic, intimate, behind the scenes experience of art capturing art.
Lauren started a new painting for our shoot in the neutral color palette she envisioned carrying through her brand. I found out later she based the images on my own personal travel experiences! Lauren gifting me the piece when it was finished and it now has a special place in on my wall at home.
